The Wayans Brothers are no strangers to ribald satire, and they went even closer to the edge with SCARY MOVIE. To slash at the core of the slasher formulas, the Wayans rounded up a team of the best young comics and sexy up-and-coming actors and actresses. Director Keenen Ivory Wayans noted: "We rehearsed for two weeks before we started shooting and I had all of them do homework assignments on their characters. They really did it and it shows. We also improvised a lot on this film and a lot of funny stuff comes out of that." Equally warped and extreme were the visuals of SCARY MOVIE, which were part and parcel of the parody, from a wild new look at the "Blair Witch" woods to unprecedented uses for slow-mo special effects of "The Matrix." Director of photography Francis Kenny evoked the manic mood with his camera work while production designer Robb Wilson King and costume designer Darryle Johnson had fun with the film's overall outrageous look.
